Legal service framework awarded tender

Wednesday February 13th, 2013

Government Procurement Service (GPS) has announced the award of a new Legal Services framework which replaces the existing Legal Services and LitCat models.

The new single cross-government framework was developed in close collaboration with Government Legal Service (GLS) and will drive further savings and improve efficiency in the provision of legal services. It has been developed to meet the needs of the whole of the public sector.

The panel provides Government departments and other public sector bodies’ access to a roster of approved law firms, all of which have undergone rigorous assessment by the GPS, the national procurement partner for UK public services. The new framework agreement replaces Catalist, the government’s previous legal services panel.

The new Legal Services framework provides access to professional legal services, whilst delivering value for the taxpayer. It covers eight categories of legal service provision:

  •  media and e-commerce
  • property and estates
  • employment and pensions
  • general corporate
  • finance
  • commercial
  • general litigation
  • major projects

The Framework has been awarded for two years, with the option to extend for a further two, following a rigorous competitive tender process.
