The Procurex South Keynote Arena

Procurex_south   Procurex South Live 2015 is coming to Olympia London on 10 March. The event’s Keynote Arena will bring together policy makers and thought leaders to present the current and future buying requirements of the UK public sector, with a special focus on the south of England.

It will include presentations by leading experts, who will discuss the latest policy and legal updates which impact on the roles of purchasing and commissioning within the public sector.

Chairing the event will be PASS (Procurement Advice and Support Service) consultant Colin Cram. Mr Cram will give the chairman’s address, sharing the lessons he has learnt from his current role and past position as Director of the North West Centre of Excellence.

This address will be followed by Putting Commercial Thinking into the DNA of the Public Sector, by Cabinet Office Chief Commercial Officer Bill Crothers. Mr Crothers will explain the need for and means by which policy makers and the wider public sector can become ‘business minded’ and understand the commercial implications and opportunities of delivery options and decisions.

Next, the Scottish Procurement Directorate’s Deputy Director, Paul McNulty, will review the experiences and achievements of the Scottish government in a presentation entitled Delivering Economic Growth and Social and Environmental Benefits through Creative Public Procurement: the Scottish Experience, which will also explore what the wider UK can learn from Scottish procurement.

Continuing the momentum, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Senior Consultant, Henry Needler, will present Making the Best Use of IT and Data to Deliver Value and Economic Benefits. This session explains how procurement professionals can use and analyse data and use the results to get the most out of their expenditure, becoming key business professionals for the organisations that they serve.

Following this, Thames Water’s Head of Managed Procurement Service, Tessa Fayers, will examine getting best value for money in her presentation Sourcing for Innovation: Better Outcomes and Reduced Costs. She will use her experience of utilities procurement to suggest innovative supply management techniques that can be applied across various sectors.

Next Network Rail Procurement and Commercial Director, Jim Carter, will explain use a case study to explain Contracting for World Beating Outcomes This session will use Network Rail procurement examples to show how supplier relationship management can create innovation and continuous improvement.

In the last session, procurement expert Efficio’s Vice President, Toby Munyard, will lead a panel debate on the idea of re-organising London’s megacity-sized procurement arrangements and expenditures.

Finally, Colin Cram will wrap up the Keynote Arena with the Chair’s Closing Remarks.
