Thursday October 18th, 2012

http://www.govopps.co.uk/Gov Opps chats to Supplier Development Programme, a finalist at this year’s GO Awards Scotland, which takes place on Tuesday 23rd October at Marriott Hotel, Glasgow…

Why did you decide to put yourselves forward for the GO Awards Scotland this year?

The Supplier Development Programme is a true partnership in every sense of the word and awards like these thank everyone involved for their input. The programme is constantly evolving and each year we have something new and exciting to tell the awards panel about.

What do you think sets you apart from the other nominees in your category/categories?

Our programme supports all suppliers from all sectors across a wide geographical area ensuring there are no barriers to accessing public sector tenders. SDP also utilises the services of other business support initiatives, working in partnership so that businesses receive all the advice and support that is available to them.

What would be the biggest benefit to your organisation from winning a GO Award?

These awards have a high profile within the industry and winning the award would mean that more procurement teams across Scotland would be aware of the support we provide and in turn would highlight the programme to their suppliers.  The awards are also a great opportunity to thank the SDP partners and all the other organisations that have backed SDP in their achievements.

What would you say has been your biggest challenge in the past year and how have you overcome it?

Public sector demands value for money and this programme strives to constantly deliver high quality training and support. The tough economic climate has meant that demands have been higher with even more businesses requiring support in order to tender for public sector work. SDP has utilised the resources and expertise of some private sector contractors to deliver a wider range of workshops and open up more opportunities for our businesses.

What’s next for your organisation?

Supplier Development Programme has continually evolved during the last five years, changing to meet the current demands of Scottish businesses. SDP are keen to get more Scottish businesses submitting joint tenders so that the lager scale contracts can be won by more Scottish businesses.

Supplier Development Programme is a finalist at this year’s GO Awards Scotland, which takes place on Tuesday 23rd October at Marriott Hotel, Glasgow.
