Scottish procurement elite honoured at awards ceremony
Organisations across Scotland have been honoured for outstanding achievement at the fourth annual Government
Opportunities (GO) Excellence in Public Procurement Awards Scotland.
The GO Awards Scotland, organised by procurement specialists BiP Solutions, are the only Awards dedicated to public procurement in the country. Winners were announced at a ceremony held in Glasgow’s Marriott Hotel following the Procurex Scotland 2011 exhibition.
Winners included BASE – Scottish Supported Businesses, who scooped the GO Sustainability / Corporate Social Responsibility Initiative of the Year Award; Transport Scotland, Glasgow City, South Lanarkshire and Renfrewshire Councils, who walked away with the GO / John F McClelland Collaborative Procurement Initiative of the Year Award; and Maindec Computer Solutions Ltd, working with the Scottish Government, who won the GO Best Service Award.
Also honoured on the night were Scotland Excel – Learning and Development Team; NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde; Tayside Contracts and the Argyll and Bute Council Procurement Team.
The final award of the night went to The University of Edinburgh, who won the GO Team of the Year Award.
Grahame Steed, Managing Editor of Awards sponsor Government Opportunities (GO), said: “Once again the GO Awards Scotland have set the standard for public procurement across the country. In difficult times, it is clear to see that buyers and suppliers are rising to the challenge of delivering better services for less and the GO Awards Scotland are the perfect way of sharing and showcasing some of the best initiatives from the past year. Every finalist had a compelling story to tell and those that have gone on to further success in the Awards deserve all the recognition they get.”
The GO Awards Scotland was set up in 2008 following the success of the UK-wide National GO Awards, established in 2002.
