Scottish Government chooses smartcard supplier
According to media reports, the Scottish Government has chosen Novacard for a new £2.2m smartcard contract.
Computing is reporting that the German company will supply three million smartcards over the next four years, toScotland’s local authorities.
The Scottish public sector has implemented a National Entitlement Card (NEC) scheme allowing Scottish citizens to have a multi-application smartcard as a means of accessing public services.
Its thought that the cards are intended to be used for major services, such as Transport Scotland and local government services.
