Proposed changes to EU procurement benefits charities – Navca

Thursday January 5th, 2012

Proposed changes to EU procurement rules have been welcomed by Navca as they feel local charities and voluntary organisations will find it easier to deliver public services.

Following a consultation to which a number of UK charity stakeholders responded, the European Commission published proposals for revised public procurement directives before Christmas. Proposed recommendations include significantly raising the threshold for social, health and education services to €500,000 from €200,000.

According to Navca, the new proposals recognise the fact that the current EU procurement rules don’t fit well with social, health and education services.
