New leisure contract to bring savings for Greenwich Council

Tuesday December 13th, 2011

According to media reports, Greenwich Council has signed a new contract which is expected to save the authority around £250,000.

The council has renewed its contract with Greenwich Leisure Limited to run Greenwich’s facilities for the next 15 years.

Full financial details were undisclosed, with the contract due to start in January.

The contract incorporates all leisure centres, adventure playgrounds, Southmere Boating Centre, Hornfair Park BMX track and Charlton Lido.

Greenwich Leisure Limited Managing Director Mark Sesnan said: “We are delighted to have won the re-tender which is a strong vote of confidence for the work we have done in the borough to date, the quality of service we offer leisure users. Recognising the harsh economic conditions we have significantly reduced our management fees, thus ensuring the council will get even better value for money.”
