COSLA’s McCormac Review submission endorsed

Friday June 3rd, 2011

COSLA’s submission to the McCormac review has been given unanimous endorsement by Scotland’s Council Leaders.

The organisation now says it is looking forward to the debate about how best to work with Scotland’s teaching workforce to deliver the best possible outcomes for children and young people.

Councillor Michael Cook said: “Parents, teachers and councils all want to ensure the very best start for children and young people in Scotland. That is why it is so important that we do not shy away from exploring new thinking where that could improve lives for families and communities. Our submission to Professor McCormac’s Review, which has now been unanimously endorsed by Scotland’s Council Leaders, aims to raise areas for debate, just as all submissions to the review have done.”

COSLA says its objective is to make sure that the arrangements that support the teaching workforce are up to date and ‘reflect all of the changes that have taken place across the education system in the last ten years’.
