Capital Solutions: GO Awards Scotland finalist

Thursday October 18th, 2012

Government Opportunities talks to Capital Document Solutions, a finalist at this year’s GO Awards Scotland…

1)    Why did you decide to put yourselves forward for the GO Awards Scotland this year?

As a major supplier of office equipment and document solutions to the Scottish public sector, we have exhibited at Procurex Exhibitions and attended GO Award Dinners over the last few years. We are, therefore, fully aware of how highly regarded the GO Awards are in the public sector marketplace.

Since the commencement of the Scottish Procurement Office Equipment Framework (June 2009), we have been recognised for providing the highest level of service and support to our public sector clients. These outstanding service and support levels are confirmed by the results of a survey conducted by Scottish Procurement, as well as the numerous testimonials we have received from clients.

We therefore, with the encouragement and endorsement from Scottish Procurement, put ourselves forward for a “Best Service” Award in the hope that we would be recognised for our achievements in this sector.

2)    What do you think sets you apart from the other nominees in your category/categories?

The philosophy of our company has always been to provide clients with sound advice, from enthusiastic and experienced staff, on market leading office equipment and document solutions. We then ensure that all products supplied are fully supported by the highest standards of after sales service and support in the industry.

That philosophy is still the guiding principle in everything we do and has ensured that we have maintained our reputation as one of the most respected suppliers in our industry for more than 30 years.

We look after every aspect of our customers’ document requirements. Our team of knowledgeable staff is totally dedicated to ensuring that our clients receive personal attention from locally based staff committed to the highest standards of customer care.

3)    What would be the biggest benefit to your organisation from winning a GO Award?

The biggest benefit of winning a GO “Best Service” Award would be the formal recognition it would give us across Scotland, particularly in the public sector. Winning the award would also be an outstanding acknowledgement and well-deserved “pat on the back” for all our dedicated staff and further motivation for them to continue their good work.

4)    What would you say has been your biggest challenge in the past year and how have you overcome it?

The biggest challenges have been to continually develop our people and skills to cope with the business’ planned growth of 20% per annum and, also, keeping pace with our market’s ever changing products, technology and software in order to meet customer’s requirements and expectations.

Our workforce has already grown by 19 since this time last year to keep pace with our rate of growth and we have also invested substantially in new internal IT systems and processes.

5)    What’s next for your organisation?

In order to maintain our position in the marketplace, we will continue to invest in developing our people and processes.

The business is on track to grow by 20% by the end of the year. We also plan to acquire a complementary business within the next 12 months to help us progress towards our longer term objective of £30m turnover by the end of 2015.

Capital Document Solutions are a finalist at this year’s GO Awards Scotland, which takes place on Tuesday 23 October at Marriott Hotel, Glasgow.
