This Award recognises the pivotal role that commissioning and public procurement can play in ensuring a more sustainable and equitable future for society. It recognises the transition that sustainability and corporate social responsibility (CSR) concerns have made from being background issues to now being centre-stage. The Award highlights those organisations that have embraced the sustainability and CSR agendas and made them a key component of their commissioning and procurement activities.

Open to:
Scottish public, private or third sector organisations

Evidence keywords:
Environmental benefit, reduced carbon footprint, recycling, supply chain engagement, lifetime value, ethical, stakeholder involvement, consultation, stakeholder benefit, measurable benefit 

Awards:
One winner, one highly commended (if merited)

Criteria:

  1. Please describe the sustainability initiative or CSR approach that your organisation has instigated, and what it set out to achieve.
  2. What aspects of the initiative or approach are particularly innovative, creative or groundbreaking (while remaining within the bounds of procurement legislation)?
  3. What level of engagement has been achieved with parties outside of the contracting organisation (for example, other organisations, suppliers, the local community or other interested groups)?
  4. What were the expected outcomes of the initiative or approach, and what success has been achieved to date? Where possible, please provide evidence of targets set and performance or measurable benefits achieved.
  5. Has your organisation spread the benefit of this initiative or approach to other organisations? If so, how, and what results have been achieved?
  6. Please provide any other information that you believe is supportive of this entry.
