GO Sustainability Initiative of the Year Award
Deadline for submissions is 26 April 2010 |
This Award recognises the pivotal role that public procurement can play in ensuring a more sustainable future for society. It recognises the transition that sustainability issues have made from being a secondary concern to now being centre-stage. The Award highlights those organisations that have embraced the sustainability agenda and made it a key component of their procurement activities; delivering not just a neutral impact on the environment as a consequence, but a clear benefit.
Timescale:
Procurement activity must have been active since at least April 2009
Open to:
Public/Private/Third Sector organisations
Evidence keywords: Environmental benefit, reduced carbon footprint, recycling, supply chain engagement, lifetime value, reduced environmental impact through innovation or process change, stakeholder involvement, measurable benefit
Awards:
One winner, one highly commended (if merited)
Criteria:
- Please describe the sustainability initiative or approach that your organisation has instigated, and what it set out to achieve.
- What aspects of the initiative or approach are particularly innovative, creative and groundbreaking (while remaining within the bounds of procurement legislation)?
- What level of engagement has been achieved with parties outside of the contracting organisation (for example, other organisations, suppliers, the local community or other interested groups)?
- What were the expected outcomes of the initiative or approach, and what success has been achieved to date? Where possible, please provide evidence of targets set and performance or measurable benefits achieved.
- Has your organisation spread the benefit of this initiative or approach to other organisations? If so, how and what results have been achieved?
- Please provide any other information that you believe is supportive of this entry.
